"older people who shouldn't be playing games to begin with"?

Hey there traveller, welcome to the 21st century where the market has expanded to include more than 12-year-olds (if it ever did).

The issue isn't the maturity of the writing, it's the overall quality. ESRB doesn't rate the merits of a good story.

This one's actually funnier than their last few comics. The past week the strip has been good for a snicker, but this was genuinely humorous, if dark. I say keep it coming.

I don't think the Wii is anywhere close to DS's balance in terms of good software, so I can't help but object to your application of the same logic.

No, I'm not jumping up to defend Wii. I don't think it's that great a console on its own or compared to the other two. But with the DS, Nintendo manages to capture a significant portion of your broad and niche markets. Sure a lot of people loved Nintendogs, but DS customers also snap up JRPGS, Castlevanias, and a wealth of other game...

Darkside Chronicles is a rail shooter using Havok.

I wasn't disagreeing w/you btw.

The whole argument here is if we don't treat the planet better we'll screw ourselves. So we're going in with a soft touch to save our own asses. *thumbs up*

I like a pretty picture as much as the next guy. In all honesty, I probably see more pictures of hot drawn women than pics of real girls. Probably because I study art, huh.

Sure, that's it. *looks around*

Because companies including Sony see the big picture which I think some people here are missing. Sony hasn't magically "stopped" piracy, but helped develop a new medium and hardware which is taking time to crack. It's a stopgap solution to the problem like every new instance of DRM and copy protection. The PS3 isn't immune to piracy forever and even Sony knows this, which is why smarter people plan ahead. I can guarantee you, Sony isn't approaching the issue with the same complacent...

TES doesn't need multiplayer to be a great game. It has not only survived but thrived (GOTY, multiple awards) in its ambitious single player sandbox. While I wouldn't oppose the inclusion of a totally optional co-op/multi mode, its absence won't hurt one bit.

Article has pretty good suggestions. I also like Thanatos' suggestion for mounted combat. Seriously, I stopped riding horses because I had to dismount to do practically everything else.

Since most of the good o...

Agree with FPS. I've said before, I don't think it's a bad genre, but the market is absolutely saturated with them. Despite that, they're hugely popular and the majority of consumers are happy with a new coat of paint and multiplayer. Again, the genre itself isn't crap, but I think it could use some serious renovation.

^^Agree agree agree.

If you think music is going downhill, you aren't listening closely. There is a literal wealth of music out there and no blanket statement like "music is going downhill" covers every band out there. If you can stop pining for the great bands of yesterday, you'll probably find something to like today.

Google Hyung Tae Kim and you will be a happy man. Love his style.

Magna Carta (PS2) itself however leaves something to be desired imo. I thought the combat scenarios too complex to the point of drawing out battles a little long. There was a good bit of depth, but maybe too much and too repetitive. That's probably my only complaint.

Took this list from destructoid for those who prefer reading over the video:

http://www.destructoid.com/...

Magna Carta 2 (Namco Bandai, August 6 release)
Tekken 6 (Namco Bandai, Fall 2009)
Lost Planet 2 (Capcom, New trailer showed off the game's four-player cooperative; video should be available on Japanese Xbox LIVE Marketplace today)

I didn't care for memory cards at all really. Very glad we've moved on to having them as optional.

Loved the VMU though.

I'd wager they're hard at work on TESV if New Vegas is being developed outside Beth. And if they want to realistically make that 2010 deadline.

"I don't really need a character to launch into their entire life storey ever single time I talk to them, so I took a pass on Mass Effect."

Haha. I know the feeling. It sometimes makes me wish games would go back to text only. I read a heck of a lot faster than these guys deliver lines.

Both games have their merits; missing either of the two would be a sin imo.

Braid? If you want to experience the content, there's a simple solution depending on how old school you are: just play through the whole game in one sitting. It's not even as long as the first Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo and you get infinite tries. I would call this "easy mode" back then.

Even so, we still deserve a solution at some point since not all XBLA games can be completed in such a short time.

It's propaganda if you're living on pretend Earth, I guess. WoW does the same thing when they present real news in character. It's kind of cool actually.

Well, that's strange. The screens released thus far didn't look that bad to me, but I guess they want to stand out.

After the way the media embarrassed itself over nothing last time, I'd say Bioware sure wouldn't mind making them look like idiots again.
